Double knitting creates a two-layer fabric, usually knit in two colours to create a reversible fabric where each side is a mirror of each other in stockinette. There are two basic ways to knit this double-sided fabric. We’ll cover both techniques, yarn management, basic structure of double-knit fabric, how to read chart patterns & tips for how to knit this technique successfully.

BEYOND BASICS: KNITTING CLASS or equivalent.
Intermediate – advance. It would be ideal to have some experience working with two yarns at the same time.
COST $50 + GST. No pattern required.
TECHNIQUES TO LEARN
Selvedge edges, double-knit in two passes, double-knit with two hands in one pass, and chart reading.
Sport – dk weight yarn to practice with, in 2 – 5 colours that will contrast well. Smooth yarn with a high twist work best.
Needle size suitable for yarn weight you are using, in at lease 24” circulars or 7” DPNs.

Needles, scissors, stitch markers, yarn (no single ply), pen/pencil for taking notes.
