DESCRIPTION
The Kawung motif likely originates from one of the oldest batik designs. The stylized representation of four lobes around a centre are of the Areca Palm blossom or the cross section of its fruits. In this workshop, students will learn how to crochet Atty Van Norel’s Kawung motif, in several possible colour combinations. Once you’ve learned how to crochet this motif, you’ll be able to use this basic pattern for future crocheted projects.

PREREQUISITE
Learn to Crochet with Paula Workshop or equivalent*.
* Participants should be familiar with ch, sc, hdc, and dc stitches prior to enrolling.

SKILL LEVEL
Beginners who are comfortable with crocheting ch, sc, hdc and dc stitches.

COST
$35 + GST. Pattern not included in the class.

How to incorporate colours & proper tension for crocheting an even square. Join as you go technique.

SUGGESTED YARN
Sport – worsted weight yarn.

MATERIALS TO BRING
Yarn to practice with, crochet hooks, scissors. Yarn in several colours to crochet your Kawung motif. Please purchase a copy of the pattern before class.
