Made from 100% wool, sourced from local sheep producers in the East Kootenay region.
Riverside Farm is working with the Wild Sheep Society of BC, the BC Sheep Separation program, Dr. Helen Schwantje and sheep producers in the Regional District of East Kootenay. We are working together to test domestic sheep for Mycoplasma Ovipneumoniae (M.ovi), to determine the prevalence and risk to Bighorn Sheep. The goal is to support farmers who support wildlife conservation and together we can promote both healthy domestic and wild sheep in the region.
The wool pellets are a local and natural source of nitrogen (~9-0-2); absorb moisture and improve aeration and porosity in the soil.
Production of wool pellets contributes to waste reduction as lower grade wool can be utilized as a soil amendment. They also offer potential in drought mitigation
1Kg of wool pellets will serve approximately 0.56 cubic meters of soil.
5% of sales will go towards further M.ovi testing. With your purchase of wool pellets, you are contributing to a collaborative effort to help preserve the Bighorn Sheep in British Columbia.
